At age 16 I became interested in real estate where my first home purchase in Cambria, California springboarded my life-long career in real estate. During my first 3 years in Real Estate, I worked with Century 21 and earned top honors as the top listing and top selling agent in my community. My personal production surpassed all previous listing and sales records on the Central Coast, and I was recognized as being at a production level that only the top 1% of real estate agents nationwide had reached. I worked there until 1992, when I ventured out to open my first real estate brokerage, “Cambria Realty”. In late 1995 I began reaching beyond the boundaries of the Central Coast, to list and sell properties in mountain and lake regions throughout Northern California. I developed a “Lot Flip” Investment Program which allowed me to sell over 1,000 lots in Northern California Lake Communities to my real estate investor clients, who subsequently resold most of these lots, at much higher prices. In 2002 I opened two other successful real estate brokerages in Northern California- Manor Realty in Chester and Foxwood Realty, Inc. in Lake Almanor, California. In 2007 my wife Cherie and I decided to move to Grass Valley, California. During the downturn in the economy in 2008, a friend and I joined forces to purchase home mortgages that were in default. We did “Workout Agreements”, allowing these homeowners to begin repayment plans to stay in their homes. The mortgages we focused on buying were ones we felt would otherwise be forced out of their homes through foreclosure, due to not being able to get their lenders to agree to a reasonable repayment plan. After getting each of these notes re-performing quickly, we were able to resale each mortgage at a favorable profit, allowing us to then purchase another non-performing mortgage. We felt good about helping homeowners keep their homes. It was 2010 before I decided to open Sierra Heritage Realty in Grass Valley, CA. The focus of Sierra Heritage Realty has been to only list properties we like, to hire and work with quality people we enjoy, to always do what is right for our clients, and to focus on getting our listings sold quickly and at their full listed price (whenever possible). This culture has resonated with our agents and clients alike, allowing Sierra Heritage Realty to become the dominant Land Brokerage in Nevada County, CA within just two years. I grew up in Nevada City as a 5th generation native. My Great Great Grandfather won the town Bakery in a poker game and not knowing anything about baking he immediately moved his family to Nevada City to start our family legacy. The Kopp Bakery became a main resource during the Gold Rush Era, they ran bread trucks in Truckee, Colfax, and Downieville. Growing up in the heart of the hills I was exposed to the raw beauty and power of mother nature. My parents made it a priority to take my siblings and I out camping almost every weekend. I learned to fish, hike, cook, and much more at a very early age. Being outdoors has always been my second nature. Right after graduating Nevada Union I moved to Sacramento to begin my career. I was blessed with an opportunity to become a superintendent for a prestigious builder. At age 21 I was thrusted into the building world. Managing up to 25 lots at once from ground to finish, my passion for homes and land only grew. I was a top producer in my field and the youngest female in my division. After starting my family I decided to move back to my hometown to raise my children. I wanted them to experience the beautiful, magical, and familiar nature I once knew. My children are now teenagers, almost at the point I was when I sat out on my journey. They’ve grown to know camp trips in the high mountains, swimming in the Yuba, and hiking numerous trails. We’ve raised pigs, bred Akitas, cultivated amazing gardens, and every year we caravan with all of our family and friends in tote to find the best remote christmas tree hunting spot. My girls know that there is nowhere like Nevada County, they appreciate nature and respect the land, as do I. In 2010, we moved to Rocklin, however, we disliked living in the concrete jungle. In July 2013, we decided it was time to return to the foothills and moved to Penn Valley.
